Marshfield Mariner, February 22nd, 2012
The Marshfield Education Foundation (MEF) is seeking runners and walkers of all ages and abilities for its second annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K road race.  The road race, to be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17th, on a flat, ocean-side course in the Brant Rock neighborhood of Marshfield, is designed to be a fun and scenic challenge for participants.  Proceeds from the event will help fund the foundations’ grants program for the Marshfield Public Schools.  Last year’s inaugural St. Patrick’s Day 5K drew over 1,600 participants and raised over $35,000 for the foundation.
The title sponsor for this year’s road race is TD Ameritrade, with the Venus II restairant, located on the Brant Rock Esplanade in Marshfield, reprising its role from last year as the official host for the race.  Stop by any of the restaurants in Brant Rock after the race for a bite to eat or a celebratory St. Patty’s Day pint:  Venus II, The Bailey, Haddad’s Ocean Cafe, The Fairview Inn & Restaurant or The Hop.
The fee to register for the race is $25, or $15 for those 19 years of age and under and $30 for day of registration.  All runners and walkers who register by February 24th will receive an official race shirt.  To register as a participant in the race, or to learn more about this event, please go to www.marshfieldstpatricksday5K.com.  For questions about the event, please email the race committee at stpatricksday5K@marshfieldfoundation.org.
